On the R, and only on the R, there are reports of rear shocks failing and needing to be rebuild. Itâs hard to figure out hard numbers, but there are a few. Just to be clear the issues are of shock leaking oil, broken seals, not broken shaft or âexploding shockâ as you can read online.

Having experienced most of the common failures on the 790 (mine is a 2019 with only around 17k KM on it. 3rd clutch, 2nd set of cams, 2nd O2 sensor, 2nd rear brake ABS sensor, rebuilt shock, etc.. etc..), I had been pretty lucky with electronics.. up until a trip a week and a half ago.
My 2 month old 2021 890 R has a little bit of condensation in the left of the screen. Dealer has ordered me a new screen under warranty. He said theyâll get it sorted straight away as theyâd seen the same issue on 790âs steadily get worse until you could no longer see the display clearly. #12. phm14 , Jul 15, 2021.
Peoples Republik of Washington. I had trouble starting my 790 after purchase, then threw a booster plug on it for a a few days to try it out but did'nt like the MPG loss, however it solved the starting issue. I took it off and went another 300 miles with it starting only after 3-4 tries. For some reason, around 500 mile mark it started firing
As a 2020 790 Adventure S owner, Iâve had a few issues: -stalling on cold starts -leaky front brake reservoir (installed incorrectly and over filled) -leaky front sprocket seal (recalled) -faulty rear ABS brake line (recalled) Otherwise, itâs performed perfectly for 6,000kms.
The short answer is: Yes, the BoosterPlug and the O2 (Lambda) sensor will prevent the motorcycle engine from running too lean - with or without the catalytic converter in the exhaust system. As mentioned above, the O2 sensor will adjust the air/fuel ratio in closed loop mode (High RPM), so the decat will not damage your engine. But at idle, low
